Could You Be A Youth Curator For The YA Collective?

WHY BE A YOUTH CURATOR?

The YA Collective is a dedicated day for YA-lit bringing young people together to talk about the books and topics that matter to them. As a Youth Curator you will work with our Festival Programmers and Creative Mentors to shape the YA Sessions over the Family Weekend. This is a rare opportunity to work with fellow teens and talk about the topics and issues that are relevant and prominent in this popular field of literature. As part of the team you’ll have the opportunity to leave your mark on this program. As a Scribblers Festival Youth Curator you will:

- Have the opportunity to meet Festival guests
- Receive a backstage pass to the Festival Green Room
- Have your profile featured on the Scribblers Festival Blog
- Receive a book pack to take home and add to your book collection.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

As a Youth Curator you will work within a team to shape the sessions that will form The YA Collective programming. You will be required to attend The YA Collective on Saturday 7 May 2022 for the opportunity to get some hands-on live event experience. The team of Youth Curators will be active onstage and also behind the scenes to make sure all aspects of the event runs smoothly.  Across the day you will have the opportunity to take on the following roles:

PRODUCER – Oversee the Festival sessions. This includes stage management and time keeping.
HOST – Introduce the presenters to the audience and manages audience questions.
ARTIST LIAISON – Ensure presenters arrive to their session on time and have everything they need.
REVIEWER – As a reviewer you will have an opportunity to feature as a guest blogger on the Scribblers Festival blog, capturing your most memorable moments of the day.

PRE-FESTIVAL TRAINING

The team of Youth Curators will participate in a fun training workshop with a Creative Mentor at The Goods Shed in Claremont. In this workshop you will work with your fellow team of curators to:
