What does Book Week mean to you?

Book Week is a celebration! A big week-long party celebrating stories and creativity and imagination and I love it! It’s one of my favourite times of the year.

Who was your favourite book character as a child?

I was very drawn to Charlie from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I loved that that golden ticket meant so much to him and that in the end, his selflessness was rewarded, BIG TIME! Plus, that chocolate factory was AMAZING and experiencing it through Charlie was almost as good as actually being there. Almost.

Who is your favourite character that you’ve written?

Ooh tricky one because I feel very much a part of each of the characters I’ve written; they’re all pieces of me so I don’t think I can pick just one. Impossible!

How will you be celebrating Book Week?

I’ll be out and about in schools and libraries sharing the joy of books and stories with children all over Perth, celebrating every day. I really do enjoy the time I get to spend with kids during Book Week; they’re my people and I feel right at home.
