The Scribblers Festival 2020 Schools Program is here and bookings are open!

The Scribblers Festival Schools Program will take place 6-8 May 2020. Primary Students will be hosted by our partner, Scotch College, and Secondary Students will head to our new venue, the Subiaco Arts Centre, where their creative curiosities will be heightened by out-of-the-box thinkers, writers, and illustrators from around the world.

These three days aim to show students and teachers how creativity can help them learn better in the classroom, out in the “real” world, and about themselves and their greater impact. Teachers can bring the inspiration back to school by using the resources in our Teachers Lounge, which build upon each Schools Program session.

What Happens Next?

We’ll confirm your booking within 5 business days of receiving your Booking Form. In Term 1 of 2020, you’ll receive a full Excursion Plan including maps, transport options, excursion details, our Risk Management Plan, Evacuation Plan, a Bookshop Pre-order Form. We’ll also enclose a Photo Release Form for your class. If you require further information, including insurance certificates, contact us at


Where is the Festival’s Schools Program?

How do we get there?
Both venues can be accessed by public transport, and also have pick-up / drop-off sites for your school buses, however no on-site parking is available. Full details, including logistics, will be in our Excursion Plan, which you’ll receive in Term 1 of 2020. Both sites are wheelchair accessible.

What happens if the Festival cannot accommodate my preferred booking?
If we cannot accommodate your booking request, we will provide you alternative available sessions or add your request to our waitlist.

I don’t know my final class numbers yet. What do I do?
We understand that final class numbers for 2020 may not be confirmed yet, so we recommend you book the maximum number of tickets to avoid any students missing out. We can take account of slight fluctuations to increase or decrease your booking numbers. However, please note that an increase in numbers is subject to availability.  

If I cancel, can I get a refund?
By submitting your Booking Form, it confirms you have read and agreed to our Terms and Conditions included on the form. We’re sorry, but we do not offer refunds or cancellations.  

What else should I consider when making my booking?
Your students should arrive already equipped with notepad and pencil, and a packed lunch as food will not be provided or available for purchase.

Do both Schools Program venues have books available to purchase?
Yes, both venues will have bookshops on-site. It’s a good idea for students and staff to pre-order books for collection on the day, so you’ll receive a pre-order form in Term 1 of 2020.

Can we get our books signed?
We arrange book signings on-site, however, because queues can be long, we cannot guarantee all books will be signed.  

Are there resources available to integrate Scribblers sessions in to our curriculum?
You bet! Our Teachers Lounge includes ideas for activities for before and after your visit to the 2020 Festival. It also includes teaching tools from the 2019 Festival, including our Podcast Series and past Festival sessions.
