Conversation Caravan

Hi folks, the window for 2022 Podcasters submissions is now closed.

Now we get to do the fun part and listen to all your wonderful auditions. We will let the successful Podcasters know by Friday 10 June. We'll also announce it on our social media, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram

Thanks to everyone who took the time to apply - we couldn't do this without you.
Why be a Podcaster?

The Scribblers Festival Conversation Caravan is where all the BIG questions are asked. Over the Family Weekend, it’s home to our team of young podcasters, tasked with getting to the bottom of what makes our Festival creatives tick, what inspires them most, and everything in between.

Podcasters take part in a series of workshops hosted by a professional podcaster to hone their interviewing and recording skills.

As part of the workshops our Podcasters learn:

• The tips and tricks for putting together podcasts from planning to execution
• Develop interviewing techniques and microphone skills
• Learn what makes a great interview and how to tell a great audio story

Members of the Conversation Caravan Podcasting Team receive a backstage pass to the Scribblers Festival Green Room, and are part of the working Festival team. The final recorded interviews are also shared as Scribblers Podcasts online.

APPLICATIONS FOR 2022 PODCASTERS HAVE NOW CLOSED...

But if you'd like to start practising your audition for 2023, here's what you can do:
STEP 1
: Grab your phone or tablet and get ready to hit record. We don’t want fancy software; just you and your voice.
STEP 2: Do a sound check (Testing 1, 2…)
STEP 3: Ready to roll? Hit record and answer the questions below. Your audio must be no longer than 2 minutes – it’s a good test, because time keeping is key to running great podcasts:

• Introduce yourself: What’s your name and age?
• Tell us why we need you – Why would you be a great Podcaster for Scribblers Festival?
• What’s a great book you’ve recently read? What did you love about it?
• If you could interview any author dead or living, who would it be?
• What question would you most like to ask?

STEP 4
: Happy with your mini podcast? You should be! Now, we want to hear it, so save the file in the format detailed in the application form below and send it in.
