We are excited to announce our brand new Scribblers Festival Writing Journal for primary and secondary students is now available. Jam packed with writing tips, prompts and space to practice creative writing, these journals have been written in collaboration with the creative talents of author Deb Fitzpatrick, graphic novelist Gavin Aung Than, illustrator Aśka and YA writer A.J. Betts.

What are the prizes?

There are some fantastic prizes to be won by shortlisted entrants including, bookshop vouchers and a creative writing Masterclass with a Festival author from the 2021 Festival program.

Winning entrants will win a cash prize of up to $500, Festival Book Shop vouchers and a creative writing Masterclass!

How do I enter my story?

Open to Western Australia residents across three age categories, you are invited to tackle the theme through fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, comics or graphic novels – we’ll let you choose your creative path. Be sure to follow our Blog for tips and tricks on creating your masterpiece!

Competition Categories (Residents of Western Australia only)

  • Senior – Years 9-12
  • Middle – Years 7-8
  • Junior – Years 4-6

Blind-judged by a star panel of authors, winners will be announced at a special event across the Festival Family Weekend on 8-9 May 2021.

To apply online or via post, complete the Individual or Class Entry Form below, read the Terms & Conditions, and submit your creation of 3000 words or less by 21 March 2021. Finalists will be notified by email or phone the week of 19 April 2021.
